Toward Zero Manual Work—Aiming for Full Automation of O-Ring Installation

Overview

In many manufacturing plants, it is common to produce products by combining multiple machines and processes.
However, our company is developing a system where a single robot consistently completes the entire process up to the final product.
This project automates the installation of and aims to complete a robotic package system that could become the definitive solution for automated equipment. and aims to complete a robotic package system that could become the definitive solution for automation equipment.

contents

  1. Development of a Robot Hand Mechanism Capable of Automatically Installing Inner Diameter O-Rings
  2. Establishing integration with a robotic package system capable of reliably positioning O-rings in their designated locations

Consortium

Kanazawa University, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Frontier Engineering Program, Associate Professor Hirahiro Nishimura
We aim to realize the mechanism of an inner diameter O-ring using as few actuators as possible.

Achievements and Outlook

The introduction of this system not only reduces costs but also reduce idle equipment, and enable space-saving installation.
This is expected to lead to widespread adoption among many small and medium-sized enterprises with manufacturing facilities.
